October 10, 2011 Gaurikund Hotels: A place for hindu pilgrims
Tourist visit Gaurikund because of its significance in Hinduism. Being one of the most famous Hindu pilgrimage places towards Kedarnath, Gauri Kund is just nine miles away from it. Located high above sea level, around 6000 feet, Gaurikund is one of the most exciting places to visit in the Garhwal Himalayas. After settling in one of the beautiful Gaurikund hotels, tourists would then visit Kedarnath, which is one of the most important places for the believers of the Hinduism faith; and was built to revere the Lord Shiva. Another legend that mystifies Gaurikund is about the story in which Ganesha got his elephant head. According to the story, the Goddess Parvati gave life to Ganesha and made him the guardian of her place. Then upon surprise, Shiva cut his head off only to be replaced later by an elephant’s head so he could live again.
